Quad Biking / ATV
Quad biking in Siem Reap is exactly what it sounds like: a guided ride through the Cambodian countryside on an automatic four-wheel ATV, through rice paddies, red dirt roads, village paths, and open farmland. It is not technically demanding. The bikes are fully automatic, no clutch or gears required, and operators run a short practice session before anyone heads out. Most people are comfortable within ten minutes.
What makes it worth doing is the same thing that makes cycling worth doing, but faster and louder. You get into parts of the countryside that tuk-tuks do not reach, past working farms and wooden stilted houses and children who wave at you from the roadside, and you cover enough ground in two to three hours to genuinely feel the scale of the landscape around Siem Reap.
The sunset tour is the most popular for good reason. The light over the rice paddies in the late afternoon is extraordinary, and ending a day at the temples with an hour of red dirt roads and open sky is a satisfying contrast.

What to Expect
Tours typically start with hotel pickup by tuk-tuk, a safety briefing and riding instruction at the operator’s base, a short practice run, and then the ride itself. Routes pass through rice fields, past water buffalo, through village streets, and often stop at a local Buddhist monastery or a small pre-Angkorian temple that sees almost no other visitors. Guides ride with you, set the pace, and handle any mechanical issues on the road.
Tour lengths range from one hour for a quick introduction to three hours for a proper countryside experience. Most visitors choose the three-hour option. Full-day and overnight tours are available through some operators for those who want to go further into the countryside.

Operators
Several well-established operators run ATV tours from Siem Reap. The most consistently reviewed are Cambodia Quad Bike, Quad Adventure Cambodia, and Siem Reap Quad Bike Adventure. All three offer hotel pickup, safety briefings, helmets, and guided routes through the countryside.
Cambodia Quad Bike uses Polaris Trailboss ATVs with third-party insurance included and has over 13 years operating in Siem Reap. Quad Adventure Cambodia offers the widest range of tour lengths including half-day, full-day, and overnight options for those who want to go deeper into the countryside. Siem Reap Quad Bike Adventure runs routes that include a 9th century pre-Angkorian temple that receives almost no tourist traffic, which is worth asking about when you book.
Prices range from around $35 to $45 per person for one to one and a half hours, $55 to $80 for three hours. Book in advance during peak season. Most operators accept cash only so bring US dollars.
Practical Notes
Wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. On unpaved roads after rain, mud is guaranteed. Closed shoes are essential. Helmets are provided. Minimum age for solo riding varies by operator but is typically 16 to 17. Younger children can ride as passengers with a parent. The bikes are heavy and not recommended for anyone with significant mobility limitations.
Go in the morning for cooler temperatures or at sunset for the best light. Avoid the midday heat between March and May. The wet season adds puddles and mud to the route. Almost every review from wet season riders mentions this. Almost every one of them describes it as the best part.
